History

Gas pressure welding rebar was invented and used in 1952 in Japan to reinforce concrete structures. In our country, this welding process was introduced to Iran in 2008 by several engineers of our country, and its use began in 2009 with approval of the Road, Housing & Urban Development Research Center.

In 2013, with the prosperity of this welding method in construction and civil engineering projects of our country, the educational standard of this method was developed in Iran’s Technical and Vocational Organization and in 2017, the national standard of this welding method was approved by Iran National Standards Organization.

Finally, with the expansion of the number of people engaged in the field of GPW (gas pressure welding) and the need to form an association and professional organization in this field, Iran GPW Welders Association by a group of professors, experts and veterans for the first time It was established in Iran in December 2021 and its articles of association were prepared and compiled. With the call of the founding board to convene the general assembly, the activists in this union gathered on 2/12/2021 in the assembly hall of Structural Test Steel Engineering Company (STS) and the association's articles of association were approved unanimously and its first board of directors was elected and this association Registered under number 7-3/1-921 dated 3/12/2021 in the General Office of Labor and Employers' Organizations of the Ministry of Cooperatives and Social Welfare and officially started its work.
